In the table below, the amino acid sequences of the multiple sclerosis autoantigens, myelin basic protein (MBP) , myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) and claudin 11 are shown in the dark grey columns and vatches in the light grey columns, where the aligning viral and phage sequences can be compared with the autoantigen amino acid sequence. The gaps in the vatches represent non-homologous amino acids, and the + sign represents an unspecified amino acid with similar properties to that of the autoantigen amino acid. The red background in the B cell and T cell antigenicity columns represent B cell indices above 0.35 and T cell indices above 0.5 (the server set threshold for epitope prediction).
Red viruses are known to infect humans: Blue viruses are from farm animals, (chickens, turkeys, cattle , sheep and horses etc) dogs, cats, mice, bats, flies and insects etc, or human food , (e.g. salmon and oyster viruses). Green viruses are plant or more exotic viruses. Animal, plant or exotic viruses may or may not cause human disease, but can enter tissues via cuts, inhalation or ingestion.
